Circa 900 CE, Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Zakariya al-Razi (aka in Latin as Rhazes), leading Muslim physician of the era, wrote the Treatise on smallpox called De variolis et morbillis (Treatise on the Small Pox and Measles).
