First President of Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan (formerly the Kirgiz Soviet Socialist Republic, or Kirgiziya) proclaimed its independence from the Soviet Union on August 31, 1991, and Askar Akayev, democratic reformer became the President of Kyrgyzstan.
