Ghana Became an Independent Nation

The sub-Saharan African colony Ghana became an independent nation on March 6, 1957 under Prime Minister Kwame Nkrumah. Formerly a British Colony known as the Gold Coast and UN Trust Territory of Togoland. Ghana was declared a republic in 1960, under the new President Kwame Nkrumah.
