Founding of Presbyterian Church

The Presbyterian Church was founded by John Calvin’s Huguenots in 1559. The Reformed Church of France adopted a different organizational structure, whereby the ministers and lay elders were the decision-makers. Presbyterian Churches are governed by courts and councils.
