Androids Created in 1772

Inventors Henri Louis Jaquet-Droz and his son designed and built androids capable of completing a variety of tasks between 1772 and 1775. The androids moved with usage of cam linkages, air pressure hoses, and various sophisticated mechanisms. The androids consisted of a Writer, writing messages of up to 40 letters; the Artist, that could sketch four drawings, and the Harmonium Player, a female android that played five musical pieces. All three figures are preserved at the Neuchatel History Museum in Neuchatel, Switzerland.
