Courante English Newspaper Printed in Amsterdam

The first English language newspaper Courante was printed in Amsterdam, Holland, yet covered Italy and Germany. The first published issue was on December 2, 1620 by Pieter van den Keere. The front page contained articles noting military event from November 1620 that took place in Hungary, Moravia, and Bohemia. The newspaper’s opening sentence was, “The new tydings out of Italie are not yet corm”.
