First Lutheran Churches

Martin Luther founded the first German Lutheran churches following the split from the Roman Catholic Church. The churches adopted their theology from the Augsburg Confession, a document written by Philipp Melanchthon on June 25, 1530, to the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V.
