Japan Clones Cows

Researcher Yukio Tsunoda of Kinki University in Nara, Japan cloned cow cells on December 8, 1998. Combining 99 cow’s eggs with cow intestinal cells collected from a slaughterhouse, the researchers created 38 genetically identical viable embryos. Ten embryos were transferred to surrogate mother cows giving birth to eight calves, while only four calves survived.
