National Weather Service Map

Joseph Henry, the first director of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC, USA, founded the national weather service in 1848. A volunteer network of weather observers reported the data via telegraph creating a daily weather map of the United States that showed the structure and movement of weather patterns.
