Early Christians living in Jerusalem in 33 CE were persuaded that the preacher and reformer known as Yeshua, or Yehoshua, had returned from the dead to manifest himself as the Moshiach, or anointed one. (Jewish theology, a descendant of King David who will save Israel from its enemies). The Hebrew name Yeshua changed to its Greek form, lesous, became the name Jesus. The title Moshiach (Messiah in English) was translated into Greek as Christos, from which was derived the title Christ. The designation Christians identified those agreed with Yeshuaóa minority and was first used in Antioch, Asia Minor (now Turkey), circa 35-40 CE.
