In the days before the Internet explosion of 1994/95, three Canadians, Bill Heelan, Alan Emtage and Peter Deutsch, all whom were at McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, they created a network software called Archie in 1989. Archie was a software that archived File Transfer Protocol (FTP) sites, and at the time had accumulated almost all the nodes on the Internet.
