Philipp Melanchthon Introduced Grade Schools

Philipp Melanchthon, a religious and educational reformer introduced grade level schools in the 1520s, during the German Protestant Reformation. Melanchthon founded secondary schools at Eisleben, Germany teaching the curriculum in three stages that allowed students to master the material at each stage prior to moving ahead.
