Pinochet Initiated a Privatization Campaign in Chile

Augusto Pinochet, the ruler of Chile’s military junta initiated a privatization campaign in 1974. Pinochet overthrew the socialist government of Salvador Allende in an effort to shore up the country’s flagging economy while returning industries back to private hands once Aliende was nationalized.
